Deleting Custom Shifts

Custom shifts can be deleted within a caseworker’s availability settings. Because custom shifts are caseworker-specific and tied to individual schedules, they are only managed from within that caseworker’s availability configuration.

This article explains how to locate and delete a custom shift.

How to Delete a Custom Shift

Step 1: Open the Caseworker

  1. Navigate to the Caseworkers tab.

  2. Select the caseworker whose shift you want to delete.

  3. Click Edit.

Step 2: Go to Caseworker Availability

Proceed to Step 2 of the caseworker setup flow, which is the Availability section.

Step 3: Locate Shift Availability

Scroll down to the Shift Availability section within the availability block.

Step 4: Open the Custom Shift Manager

Below the Shift Availability dropdown, click Manage Custom Shifts.

A list will appear showing all shifts available for that caseworker, including:

  • Custom shifts

  • Recurring (pre-made) shifts

Step 5: Delete the Custom Shift

Locate the custom shift you want to remove and click the trash icon next to it.

The shift will be deleted and removed from the shift dropdown menu for that caseworker.

Important Notes

Only Custom Shifts Can Be Deleted Here

Within the Manage Custom Shifts panel, you can only delete custom shifts.

If you need to delete a recurring or pre-made shift, you must do so from the Shift Library:

  1. Go to the Caseworkers tab

  2. Click the Shifts button in the top right

  3. Delete the recurring shift from the shift library

Availability Block Requirement

A custom shift cannot be deleted if it is the only shift within an availability block.

This restriction exists because availability blocks must contain at least one shift. Deleting the only shift would leave the availability block empty.

To delete the shift in this scenario, first add another shift to the availability block, then proceed with deleting the custom shift.

Custom Shifts Are Caseworker-Specific

Custom shifts only apply to the specific caseworker where they were created.

This means:

  • They will only appear in the shift dropdown for that caseworker

  • Deleting the shift will only remove it for that specific caseworker

Recurring or pre-made shifts, on the other hand, are shared across all caseworkers, which is why they are managed separately in the Shift Library.

Tip:
Use custom shifts for one-time or caseworker-specific scheduling needs, and recurring shifts for reusable weekly schedules across multiple caseworkers.
