Obtain OAuth Credentials for a Zoom Connection

Overview

This article describes how to obtain OAuth credentials for linking a Zoom account to the Find Your Ally appointment portal. OAuth credentials that are developed through this process are only for use in the Find Your Ally appointment portal. Connecting a Zoom account to the Find Your Ally appointment portal requires a combination of the OAuth credentials and the username and password for the Zoom account.
 

  Before beginning make sure that you:

  • You have Developer Access: The individual performing these steps must have developer-level permissions for the Zoom account. In many organizations, these permissions are restricted to IT personnel. If you do not have these permissions, please contact your IT department to assist with this setup.

  • Designate One Lead: Obtaining OAuth credentials and creating the Zoom app instance only needs to be performed by one person for the entire organization.

 

OAuth Credentials from marketplace.zoom.us

  1. In a new tab or window, navigate to https://marketplace.zoom.us/ and sign in with your Zoom username and password
  2. Click on Develop > Build App
  1. Select OAuth and Click on Create.
 

Basic Information

  1. On the Basic Information section, find Select how the app is managed and choose User-managed
  2. Make note of the App Credentials area. This information will be copied and pasted into their appropriate fields under the Zoom Connection area in Find Your Ally using the details here.
  3. OAuth Information

    • Under OAuth Redirect URL, copy and paste the following URL into the field. This URL will be automatically added to the OAuth Allow Lists

      https://admin.findyourally.com/oauth/zoom/callback
    • Check both boxes for Use Strict Mode for Redirect URLs and Subdomain Check
  1. Click Continue until you reach the Surface section or select Surface from the left navigation. The Access section can be skipped.

Surface

  1. Under Select where to use your app, check Meetings
  1. Click Continue until your reach the Scopes section or select Scopes from the left navigation. The Embed and Connect sections can be skipped.

Scopes

  1. Click the + Add Scopes button
  2. Select the Meeting product category (not Meetings)
  3. Expand the View and manage your meetings section and check the following:
    • Delete a meeting
    • Update a meeting
    • Create invite links for a meeting
    • Create a meeting for a user
  4. Click Done to close the modal window
  1. Click Continue until your reach the Local Test section or select Local Test from the left navigation. The Actions section can be skipped.

Add your app

  1. Under the Local Test section, scroll to Add app and click Add app now
  2. In the new tab, check the box to Allow this app to use my shared access permissions then click Allow


App Credentials

  1. Navigate back to the Basic Information section using the left navigation and scroll to App Credentials. 

The Client ID and Client secret are the OAuth credentials needed in Find Your Ally. These OAuth credentials should be kept secure.

  1. Next, add these credentials in the Find Your Ally appointment portal to be able to automatically or manually generate a Zoom meeting for designated appointments.
